They're Super!

I was going through a storage bin to see what I could get rid of and came across some 1970 Topps Super football cards I had no idea I had.  There are a few Hall of Famers in this group so I was happily surprised. I think a hobby shop owner gave them to me when I bought some boxes a few years ago but I'm not sure. The cards are bigger than normal cards and on very thick stock. Here's what I came across. Card Number 3 - Bart Starr The white card is there to provide perspective on the size of the Super cards. This is my only Bart Starr card from when he was active. Here is the card back.  It's set up like a regular 1970 Topps card with the same color scheme. 7 - Deacon Jones 8 - Leroy Kelly 11 - Carl Eller All three of these guys are in the Hall of FameD. 14 - Dick Butkus 22 - Gayle Sayers Two more Hall of Famers.  The Bears drafted them back-to-back in 1965. .  23 - Tom Woodeschick 31 - Joe Kapp The only two players in the gro...

Cards I Ain't Got No More - Football

As with the basketball cards there are some football cards I wish I still had: I bought a whole box of Bowman a few years ago and got this.  I think I sold this for what I had paid for the whole box.  I've always like these mini-helmet cards.  It's a sticker autograph but you gotta love Deacon Jones.  Not a huge fan of this Greats of the Game design but love the autos.  Also had a Staubach and a Lott. Might be the best card I ever pulled from a pack.

A Week Later

As a Falcon's Fan it has taken me awhile to write this post but the Super Bowl loss is mitigated by the fact that Tom Brady is my favorite player. My second favorite player is the other QB from that game that, unfortunately, did not execute in the 4th quarter.  All year I have known that the Falcons had to get to 30 points in a game to win and I was excited when they were in FG range with a change to get to 31 points.  As is well documented, that all went south. My favorite Matt Ryan card is from one of those hobby store giveaway sets: This is from 2008 Topps and is number 1 in the set. For those Atlanta haters out there, stop it (Michael Wilbon).  Everyone says we don't support our teams like other cities.  Half of our citizens grew up in other cities and they came to town with favorite teams, so get over it.  I'm sorry so many people chose to leave other cities to live somewhere better.

Mission To Mars Card Pages Part 4

To recap:  These are the cards I would take with me if I could take ten 9-card pages with me to Mars. I decided that each part of my collection cannot have more than one page.  The cards must fit into a regulation page as far as height and width but I am taking liberties with how thick some of the cards are. And now for some good old American football: 1911 T51 Murad College Series Michigan football. 'Nuff said. 1970 Kellogg's #13 This card represents three things in my sheet.  Detroit Lions, Kellogg's cards and Blazing Saddles.  I had forgotten that there was such thing as Kellogg's football cards until I found this at a show. 1993 Upper Deck #481 As far as I know, Robert is the only player from my high school ever featured on a card.  Go Angoras! 1999 TK Legacy TK Legacy produced a wonderful set of Michigan Wolverine stars.  This is my only autograph from the set.  If anyone out there has some regular cards or autos...
