2015 Topps Heritage Wal-Mart Blaster Box

With my birthday coming up in a couple of days I decided to treat myself to my first 2015 Heritage cards.  The design from 1966 is not my favorite but I still like the Heritage concept.

I'm very strict in what I'm collecting so most of these cards will be up for trade.

There are 8 packs in the box and I'm opening these packs as I type.  (Well, open then type.)

Pack 1
397 - Kyle Kendrick
353 - CC Sabathia
358 - Shane Greene
408 - Coco Crisp
416 - Glen Perkins
348 - Orioles (Checklist 336-367)

412 - Rougned Odor (This is a joke, right?) According to baseball-reference.com his name is pronounced \ROOG-ned oh-DORE\.  Of course, one of his nicknames is "Stinky."

Keepers -
70 - Yoenis Cespedes - I've been casually collecting Yoenis since his Major League debut.  The Tigers are my favorite AL team so I'm hoping he brings a steady bat this year.

News Flashbacks NF7 - Pete Rozelle.  I'll be putting this in my football keepers.

Pack 2
339 - Alcides Escobar
165 - Kennys Vargas
129 - Alex Avila
288 - Yimi Garcia \ Melvin Mercedes
221 - NL ERA Leaders
338 - Pat Neshek
164 - Matt Szczur \ Jason Rogers
318 - Clint Hurdle

Keeper -

Chrome Refractors 466 - Corey Dickerson (019/566)
Shiny!  If someone really wants this card I could trade it but it will live with my other Heritage Chrome cards until then.

Pack 3
306 - Rafael Ynoa \ Jackson Williams
411 - Ryne Sandberg
204 - Cubs (Checklist 197-219)
178 - Jake Odorizzi (Italian for Rougned Odor)
111 - Garin Cecchini
5 - Ryan Vogelsong
13 - Stephen Vogt

Clubhouse Collection YD - Yu Darvish.
Another player I casually collect.  This is my first relic card of Yu.

Pack 4
366 - Alex Cobb
26 - Ryan Zimmerman
179 - Xavier Scruggs \ Samuel Tuivailala
267 - Santiago Casilla
357 - Khris Davis
344 - Jedd Gyorko
220 - AL RBI Leaders
119 - Trevor Rosenthal
New Age Performers NAP3 - Billy Hamilton

Pack 5
12 - Jean Segura
374 - Jimmy Rollins (Dodgers)
62 - Lance Lynn
294 - J.A. Happ
277 - Josh Collmenter
134 - Yan Gomes
365 - Brett Gardner
19 - Giants (Checklist 1-34)
442 - Robinson Cano (SP)

Two straight packs with no keepers.  Where the heck are the Braves cards?!?

Pack 6
274 - Hector Rondon
28 - Jason Castro
110 - Anthony Rizzo
323 - Andrew Cashner
310 - Adam Jones
325 - Michael Bourn
360 - Daniel Murphy
80 - Cody Asche
Baseball Flashbacks BF3 - Lou Brock

(grumble, grumble, grumble)

Pack 7
50 - Jacoby Ellsbury
330 - Carl Crawford
27 - Frank Garces \ Erik Cordier
116 - Don Mattingly
136 - Jose Iglesias
398 - Travis Wood
SK-10 - Sandy Koufax (Exclusive to Wal-Mart)

Keepers -
Finally!

236 - Ervin Santana
32 - Andrelton Simmons
These were the 3rd and 4th cards in the pack,
One of the reasons that the 1966 is not one of my favorites is because of the lame color scheme on the Braves cards.

Pack 8
98 - Clay Buchholz
18 - David Freese
307 - Alfredo Simon
231 - Brock Holt
113 - Jake Peavy
137 - Domonic Brown
172 - Mets (Checklist 130-162)
331 - Henderson Alvarez
484 - Corey Kluber (SP)

------------------------------

The Relic (1:64 packs) and the Chrome Refractor (1:41) make up for the lack of Braves.  Since the relic is from a player I collect I'm giving this box an A- instead of a C+.

Everyone check your want lists for all of the non-keepers I got.

I Think I'm Done

I'm at the point that I am not feeling the trading card hobby anymore.  It is too much.  The ridiculousness of people fighting over cards at Target or Walmart even when the stores have jacked the prices up and the insane focus on spending money to have everything "slabbed" just has completely turned me off.  I have tried to focus on the vintage cards I've collected the last couple of years and the autographs and memorabilia pieces I have from some of my favorite shows and movies but I no longer have the desire to open a pack of new cards. Maybe someday if I become independently rich I will continue collecting vintage cards to add to my Tigers and Braves collections or buy rare autographs from Star Wars or Games of Thrones or some other pop culture sets but that time is not right now as living paycheck to paycheck does not make that possible. I have away the huge stack of boxes that I had full of cards, probably 200,000 cards, over the summer by putting them out by th

It's All About George

Welcome back everybody! A friend of mine who asked me why I didn't restart SCAMB so I decided to take the suggestion since he is a professional writer.  I'm not saying this is great literature though. I've been looking for topics for the relaunch and have a few in mind, but to start I wanted to highlight my number one player collection. I've been a George Brett fan since I saw him play at Tiger Stadium in 1980.  He hit a home run and got into a brawl in the game.  I was hooked. Like many collector's I've been going through my cards and other things during all of the extra time I've had at home and came upon two card albums.  I think they came with Topps Attax kits that I bought randomly.  They each have 26 pages so I decided to put my Brett cards in them and discuss each page in an installment. This will be a long term series that will be interspersed with other topics as I find cards I didn't know I had or want to highlight my favorit

I've Done It My Way

I'll get back to my 1965-1969 Baseball Card favorites next time but today I want to explore all of the other places in my collection.  When I say that I have bought a pack of everything in my life I mean every type of sport I could get my hands on. Here are a few examples: Basketball: 1952 Wheaties Jim Pollard - This set had a portrait and action shot of each player,  No idea where I picked it up but I think it is cool. CCGs: 1 995 Lord of the Rings.  I have the One Ring.  I am a nerd. Football: I have 5 Autographed Joe Montana cards from the mid-1990's.  Someday I will get them authenticated and if they are legit I will give a big thank you to the person that gave them to me at no cost. Golf: I bought a lot of base Upper Deck Golf in the early 2000's.  This is the only Gold Parallel I have from the 2002 set. Hockey: I bought a full sets of 197-79 and 80-81 Topps Hockey in the mid-80's (instead of opting for the 1979-80) .  The 80-81 had this stupid scratch off stuff o
